Between 1828 and 1848, Thomas McCulloch, my ancestor, was an engineer on the steam packet between Bristol and Chepstow and they lived in Beachley, Tidenham, until about 1841, when their residence was 5 Hotwell Road “Plume of Feathers”. It is possible that another ancestor, Thomas French, was also an engineer on the steam packets during that time. I am interested in learning more about their roles and daily lives and hope to write a treatise on the subject. Any help or guidance you can offer is appreciated. Thank you, Bob Toland
